The Nagarathars (also known as Nagarattar) are a Chettiar community that originated
in Kaveripoompattinam under the Chola kingdom of India. Deep in heart of India's
southernmost state Tamil Nadu,is Chettinadu,the land of the nattukottai Chettiars,
who also knowas the Chettiars or the Nagarathar.Karaikudi is its chief town, Devakottai
has the largest Chettiar Population. Nagarthars are Ilayathankudi, Mathur, Vairavanpatti,
Iraniyur, Pillaiyarpatti, Nemam, Iluppakudi, Soorakudi and Velangudi. |
